Person Review: (Math Professor, UP Diliman) Agapito, Julius Caesar C.

Here is my personal review on my Math Professor Julius Caesar Agapito (also known as Dr. Agapito (because of his doctorate in Mathematics), JC Agapito):

Some notes before you continue: These are based on my personal experience with him as my professor in Math 53. Unfortunately I don't know much of his schedules. If ever I made a mistake, it is my mistake. But do not blame me if you copied this to your source and made a mistake there.

Mr. Agapito has been teaching Mathematics at the University of the Philippines for a long time now. He took up BS Mathematics, graduated, took up MS Mathematics, graduated again, took up Doctorate in Mathematics, and graduated at the University of the Philippines Diliman. According to the Math Up.Edu Website, He's an associate professor in the branch of Mathematics. He's currently teaching the Math 50 series and higher fields in Math. He also teaches students taking up Master's degree in Mathematics.

He's a very simple kind of person. He doesn't wear fashion clothes, just a tee shirt, jeans and his sandals. He rides a bike (I think) when he enters and leaves the Math Building. What makes it great is his sense of humor. You might laugh, but not always.

He doesn't give much exercises for you to do. You will have to do better by studying by yourself or by doing the exercises he does while he answers. He doesn't give assignments, they're not necessary. During class hours he begins discussing a topic like he was answering it. He would oftentimes make eye contact with his students while he discusses. Make sure you ask, because if you don't get it he will just continue to the next topic. If you didn't, ask him later after class if he's okay with it.

He oftentimes gives you confusion when he discusses. Mostly you'll hear from him say, "Assuming nakuha mo na yan," (Assume that you got the answer) which tells you he'll leave the answer as it is. Many assumptions I guess, he gives at Math.

He gives very hard exams. Most likely you'll fail if you don't strive hard. Really, if that's your "hard", it's not hard enough. More than 50% of the class fail on his long exams. You'll have to get a really good score on Midterms and Finals to survive that. He uses his class time on exams, thus you don't get extensions much. His exam questions are written on the board rather than being passed around as photocopies.

He's very punctual, he will tell you when you don't have class. But don't expect a lot of times of it to happen.

Final Verdict:

Recommendation: Don't take up his class if you don't have the guts or if you don't want to fail. Change matriculation as early as possible.

Level of Learning: As long as you understand and you practice it, you'll achieve a high level of learning in Math. He's a great teacher by the way. Probably one of the greatest.

Other Notes:

He was known to be part of the Voltes V, a group of Math professors who gives lots of 5.0 to students. Don't mind them. I don't think that very true. He gives you the grade of what you truly deserve.
